An event organised for the 5th time by the CSI council of SIES GST is a platform for students to present their technical ideas and innovations. The event began with the inauguration ceremony at 9.30am with the presence of the Principal Dr. Vikram Patil, heads and faculties of all the departments. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Prasad Datye. The panel of judges included Mr. Ramesh Kharat, Ms. Anita Diwakar, Mr. Jayant Dani and Mr. Prakash Garud. After the inauguration ceremony, the participants moved to their assigned venues. Out of the 80 odd entries, 28 of them were shortlisted. These entries were further split into two groups according to their topics. Mechanical and electronics related projects were presented in the GST Auditorium whereas computer based projects were presented in the MBA auditorium.

Women’s Day Celebrationsclose

The Women Development Cell of the college in collaboration with the NSS unit organised a seminar on Women Empowerment in the GST Auditorium from 3pm onwards. The speaker for the seminar was Meena Barot also known as the Iron Lady. Ms. Meena Barot was greeted by Dean of F.E. Dr. Manasi Karkare. Seminar started with the speech of 5 boys regarding the different aspects of women empowerment. Later Ms. Meena addressed the seminar and gave a complete outline of her struggle in the life to overcome the problems she faced as a woman. Her address especially to the girls was inspiring. The Seminar was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Manasi Karkare.

TECHXTER 6.0close

TECHXTER is a National Level Technical Paper Presentation (TPP), open to all the branches of engineering. This event is held by the IETE Students’ Forum (ISF) of SIES Graduate School of Technology, Nerul. This event is specially designed in such a way that it tests all aspects of the students' knowledge on varied topics. After five previous successes, TECHXTER 6.0 has marked the sixth consecutive year of Techxter. It was held on 27 February, 2017 (Monday). This year, Techxter received about 55 abstracts from all over India, out of which 30 abstracts were shortlisted. The papers were divided into 3 venues. Each venue was assigned 2 judges, out of which, one judge was chosen from an industrial background and the second judge was chosen from an academic background. The Technical Team of SIES Graduate School of Technology hosted the maiden hackathon “ByteCamp 2017” revolving around futuristic technologies as "The Future Is Now", and exploring the avenues of Internet Of Things. Sponsored by Facebook Developer Circles Mumbai, Hackerearth, Ahy Consulting, Bemeir LLC (Based in New York), and Drona Aviation, the 24-hour hackathon witnessed 17 shortlisted teams coming from across India. With an introductory session prior, the hackathon started at sharp 1.30pm on 25th February and ended at 1.30pm on 26th February. The mentors included Harpreet Singh Ahy, founder of Ahy Consulting; Yogesh Tamhane, Innovation Catalyst at Riidl; Vishal Dubey, Lead Mobile Applications and Firmware Engineer at Autonxt Automation Pvt. IEEE Workshop close

IEEE SIES Graduate School of Technology had organised a workshop on the topic ‘Electronics Hacking and Gesture Control’. It was a two day workshop conducted on 24th and 25th of February 2017. This workshop was conducted by Kshitij Dadhekar and Karan Makharia under the name of their start up ‘gettutorialized’. This workshop was attended by 22 teams and each team had three members that is there were 66 attendees for this wonderful workshop. The incharge faculty of IEEE SIES GST Prof. Preetee Khuperkar. It started off with fully basic knowledge of the electronic devices and components which was provided to each team. The kits provided to the attendees were take away kits. Then there was a session on basic programing of arduino and also a lot was spoken about Nano arduino which was being used. The students were given the hands on implementation of the devices and software for almost one and a half day. A lovely initiative by the Literary Club of our college to organise a talk show which was for the students, of the students, by the students. 2 pairs of guests were interviewed and asked questions in the format of the famous TV shows like Koffee with Karan and Ellen Show. There were interactive sessions with the audience and all of this left the audience rolling with laughter. The event began at 4.30 and went on till 6.

The NSS unit organised the dream run in order to support the cause of helping the differently abled soldiers. The amount collected was donated to the QMTI (Queen Mary’s Technical Institute). Around 300 people turned up at 7.30 am to run for a cause. The route extended upto Wonders Park and back to the college. They managed to collect an amount of 4.10 lakhs. After the marathon, the winners were felicitated.

The NSS unit organised a street play at the nerul station. The theme was same as the cause of Dream run - Disabled soldiers of war. They managed to collect donations from commuters for this noble cause.

A workshop to teach interested students about the popular language Python was conducted by the CSI unit of SIES GST. About 100 students attended the workshop which was free for CSI members. Some students got their own laptops while others were given PCs to work on. The speaker for the workshop was Mr. Dilip Balsubramanian from 'we can educate’ - research institution conducting classes, seminars and workshops for different concepts. The session covered basics of Python and made the students do 2 projects. The workshop concluded with distribution of snacks for the attendees.

SIES celebrated the 68th republic day on Thursday. Special children from *NIMH* were the chief guest for the occasion. They all show cased their talents. This was followed by flag hoisting, National anthem and the pledge. On this occasion, our principal addressed all the students, teachers and guests present there. A few students also gave short speeches on socially relevant topics. Subject toppers were felicitated by the Pr for their achievements. The music club gave a mind blowing performance by presenting patriotic songs in from of their audience. The Nss unit performed a theatrical play on the theme *PILLARS OF INDIA* as a tribute to soldiers, farmers and youth of the nation.

Our college team participated in a inter college cricket tournament, by Lakshya. Among the 15 teams that participated, they stood first. The tournament took place at the Cross Maidan, in Mumbai and lasted for almost a week. The final round was on 3rd Feb’17.

For the first time our college organised this event, affiliated with the international TED talks community. The theme of TEDxSIESGST was ‘seeding wisdom’. The event was conducted in the GST auditorium from 9.30 am to 6 pm. The speakers and their session topics are as follows- Raul Rodriguez - Harmless bullet of psychology, Dhaval Bathia - United Religion, Shilpa Shah Iyer - PAst life regression therapy, Meena Barot - Ironman, Kaustubh Shivdikar - Certified crazy innovations, Vikram Poddar - Boardroom comedy, Melvin Louis - Concept of 0.0, Dr. Armaan Pandey - Man woman and everything inbetween.

An event organised by the cultural team of the college for the first time. It was conducted in the amphitheatre and began at 5.30. An open stage for students to showcase their talents like - singing, dancing, monoacting, stand-up comedy.The cultural team managed to put up a great show and managed to create a lively ambience filled with fun and laughter. The event was opened by the college’s music club students. The event continued till 8.30 pm and was indeed a success.

Camp location - BURSUNGE, MURBAD, THANE. No. Of students- 48. NSS unit of SIES GST built 11 SOAK PITS(Sowch Khadda) for the villagers. They also built a Bandhara(bund) in the river. They also did a rally and street plays on the topics like darkside of menstrual cycle, swatch bharat abhiyan, women empowerment etc.A session on WHAT IS SOCIAL SERVICE was conducted. They also had an interactive session with the school kids over there and few personality development sessions for the Volunteers.

The campus of sies nerul is a zero wet waste campus, as 5 compost pits are built in the parking area behind the college, so since January 2015, all the wet waste generated by the college canteen and cafeteria is dumped into the compost pits since last 2 years, and is run and maintained in a proper condition, the compost is even available for sale for college students and faculties, till now around 60 kg of compost has been sold.
